Substantial progress has been made on the dog park in the last two months. With volunteer support from Jack Casella, the entire area has been graded and the wood chip surface has been put in place. The new paths and trails have been roughed in and are ready for the finish course of stone dust to be applied in the spring. Three sections of drainage were installed under the new trails. Weather permitting, the fence contractor is expected to start the fence installation later this month. Park benches have been ordered and will arrive in plenty of time for an early spring installation. We look forward, along with all of the other dog park supporters, to a spring grand opening!
Special thanks to the staff of the Engineering, Highway and Parks and Recreation Departments for their efforts and good work on the project. Special thanks are also due to all of the local tree contractors who delivered over 1,500 cubic yard of wood chips for the project. For those of you that are considering year end charitable giving, please consider a gift to the Glastonbury Dog Park. Donations will help finish the project and be used to fund its ongoing maintenance and operation. Contributions can be mailed to Glastonbury Dog Park, c/o Glastonbury Parks and Recreation Department, Box 997, Glastonbury, CT 06033. Best wishes for happy holidays! We look forward to seeing you in the new year.
